I read it the same way as you at first. And came up with the same answer. but he says the each on 5 games out of 5 games played. If they were two sets of games that would be 10 games played. So if there are only 5 games played, the most that can be won by each and have the same number of games won would be two. Each won two games. and one player played against a third player and lost.
