Thanks for taking time to listen AND write the reply. You are very very very insightful with the reply (wow, I would love to see the 3 paragraphs you wrote ).

I'm not much of a tone person but for this piece, it was a deliberate attempt to get the ****ty tone at the beginnning so as to create the 'night and day' effect on the listener...and I'm happy it worked! hahah

Actually, I wanted to put a lead at the end section but decided againest it becasue there had been quite a lenghty solo before this, so I figured by 'not' playing, I'd made the piece better (I HOPE) :)
