personaly i use my zoom 707, or my ibanez session man II pedal, BUT if you like blues, 70's rock or something like that you should do what those guys were doing in the 70's and erlier: get yourself a tube amp, and set it as loud as you can, than a natural overdrive will be created, and with that sound you can play anything between buddy guy and ritchie blackmore
