If you are just starting to tap, try to only use your index finger (middle one) to start with - the reason being you can still hold the pick between your thumb and forefinger. This allows you to tap and pick alternatly without skipping a beat - very important. When I first started to tap I used only my forefinger (pointing one) and I ended up having to re-teach myself from scratch when I wanted to play anything that involved picking and tapping together. If you are going to tap with two fingers off the right hand and continue to pick without losing the beat, then try your middle finger and the one next to your little finger - same reason, you can still hold the pick in the right position for continued fluidity. Hope that helps.
