Heck yeh!! Slappin and poppin’ on the guitar is completely natural electric or acoustic.

Here’s a primer :

Hold up you hand with all your fingers together like you are being sworn in(I do solemnly swear!!)

Now curl your index down ..keep fingers together.
Next place your hand over the strings with your fingers perpendicular (crossing) the strings..in other words straight down. No angle.
Put your fretting hand on guitar with 3rd finger 7th fret 4th string.
Drape fret hand thumb over 6th and 5th string to “kill”
Your 1&2 finger will kill strings 1&2 with a mute bar behind your 3rd finger.

Now you are ready to get funky brudder!!. The idea is to make more rhythmic short staccato sounds .That’s why there’s a lot of muting going on

With the ball of your thumb “slap” the 6th string and let it “bounce” off the string….OUCH..yep,,get a feel for it. To hard it doesn’t bounce..just hurts… to soft that there’s no slap…do the Goldilocks style(just right)!!

Practice with in steady even rhythm.

Now the pop.Slap 6th string as your thumb hits the low string your 1st finger should come close to being under the 4th string if not adjust…

Hook your Index under the 4th string after the slapp….now pull up for a nice snap.and quickly release the PRESSURE of you 3rd fret finger ..NOTICE!! don’t take it off just release it so it killed.

SLAPP!! POPP!!.. now variate rhythms after you get the feel. Play two slaps on e pop ..etc….

You should have it in no time. There’s billions of combination only limited to your imagination. This is just the basics...have fun.!!
