That being said, you've got that sort of thing on both sides. We're humans. We follow and live by example. I just believe you used a poor example.
I guess I kind of threw the example out there with not much clarification. Yeah, the Vote or Die campaign was pretty Kerry heavy... But it was basically pushing 18-20 year old kids to go vote... just for the sake of voting. But what I was referring more to with the example was the ones that are now complaining about Bush are the ones that went to the polls and voted for him and didn't have a clue about the issues at hand. His second term is basically all because the 9-11 disaster... Many people that had never voted before voted for him just because of the momentum he carried after that whole thing.
As for the "Vote or Die" campaign... I would agree that it was heavily geared to breed Kerry supporters. But I think it was unsuccessful in more than just getting Kerry into office... I think it was unsuccessful in raising support for Kerry as well as raising awareness about candidates... further contributing to the mass amount of 18-20 year old that went to the polls just because it SEEMED like the responsible thing (and since MTV told them, the cool thing) to do... Think about it... How many of the average MTV viewers are going to actually WATCH a political debate on MTV? About 10% would be my guess... So this is what they hear "Hey everyone! Don't forget that it's your right to vote!! GO TO THE POLLS AND DON'T FORGET TO VOTE! VOTE OR DIE!" click..... they change the channel.... Now you've got an 18 year old going to the polls that's either going to vote for whatever candidate swears to legalize marijuana or he's going to vote for whichever candidate he knows the most about.........
I was just stating that when you have a bunch of uneducated people going to the polls you get results like this last election. Where Bush gets reelected and somehow has an approval rating of less than 35%...
But yeah, MTV sucks either way... it's the most worthless thing on television... ever.
