I don't know the song... do you know what the chords you'd be playing lead over are?

Someone here will be able to suggest a scale to compliment the progression, but we won't be able to help you with the phrasing. If you're just starting out, it's probably safest to go with the minor pentatonic and don't try anything too flash - maybe a couple of hammers and pull-offs and a bend or two... try to make the solo reflect the vocal in the song...

The tabs I've found put the song in the Key of A Major, so you could solo in any mode of A Major. Without hearing the song, my first attempt would probably be in F#m assuming the tab I found has the chords right...
