Don't ever be ashamed of your gear Jeff. It son't matter if you paid £3,000 or £3.00 for a guitar, as long as YOU like it. Some of the best guitars I ever had have been great. Look at the one Juliet's holding in that pic, for example. It looks great, and sounds great, but it was (one of dozens) hanging on nails on Jim's (SPL Guitarist Jim Underhill) wall in his den, covered in dust.
'I said gimme that guitar Jim' I said, half joking.
"Take it" he said, without looking up from CuBase. Feeling lucky, I said
"How about the 5-string banjo?" This made him look up, and he had that 'You cheeky barstool' look on his face.
"Yeah, take that as well, if you wannit".
That's what you call a good visit. I'm due for another soon! :)
If you don't ask, you don't get. I once wrote to Gibson, and said as my initials are SG and I was born in 61', does that entitle me to a 1961 SG? I didn't get a reply.
As long as it does what you want it to my Jeff, that's all that counts. I had a nylon strung classical for years and years (gave it away to a kid at a gig 2 weeks ago) and I'd have put it against anything else I've heard, of a similar type. It must have been worth at least a fiver ($10). Having an expensive guitar doesn't make you play any better.
Convinced yet? Or shall I go on? :)
