Yes, Satriani's "Searching" from the Live In Tokyo dvd is a prime example, along with "Raspberry Jam Delta V" or "Cool #9."
I'm not familiar with pretty much any of the White Stripes music or the Pink Floyd song you named, but many of the solos I've heard have just been hit the note, raise the octave, up and down over and over.
