I would probably play it like this:

X- If you're barring it right the flesh of your ring finger should mute it...
5- Ring finger barre
5- Ring finger barre
5- Ring finger barre
3- Index finger
X- Thumb (just touch the string with it to mute the string)

I play a lot of John Mayer-like stuff and if there's one thing that I've learned from playing his stuff is that the thumb can be a handy little weapon on that top E string when you're doing barre chords and such. Not a lot of people that are use to "shred" style guitar... where the thumb is gently rested on the back of the neck... can get use to wrapping the thumb... but it's a blues players best friend when doing chords up and down the neck.
