At 35, being new to guitar I bought a used Squier strat in sunburst with amp, hard case and various extras for not a lot of money from a guy I work with. He really knows his stuff and spent an entire day getting the pickup and string heights perfect. It's a really beautiful instrument. :) I am tempted to get a set of wall hangers and hang it in our lounge but I'm not sure my wife would approve.
Thanks in no small part to this site I'm starting to make it sound less and less like I'm torturing a cat every time I play. :D
Keep at it, it's really worth it.
