Almost all unwanted string noise comes from muting technique. Practice muting with both hands especially with the arps. There is a shortcut I use which is to tie some soft cloth around the neck of my guitar. It does the muting for you. Don't lean on it too much though. I only use it when I record to ensure I get as clean of a sound as possible.
