My ego certainly gets in the way of my progression sometimes. I have a female friend that started playing guitar at almost the exact time I did, but she's been playing piano for 15 years... she's progressed a lot faster than I have and when we get together and play I always end up plugging my strat in and saying "oh yeah?? can you do this?!?!?!" She only plays acoustic... heh heh.
