BTW - I wouldn't say using tab is "cheating" per se. The 2 biggest problems with tab are: typically it doesn't contain rhythmic info & it's not standardized music notation (it doesn't translate automatically to any other instrument).
But tab is a great way for beginners to learn. I have seen too many "proper" musicians look down on tab as bad. And too many DIY musicians look down on music notation as "unnecessary". They both have their uses. Ultimately, a guitarist should be able to use both.
