Actually, they were. The title "Snakes on a Plane" was originally a throwaway which the directors never planned on using. However, Samuel L. Jackson REFUSED to be in the movie unless the title remained "Snakes on a Plane," thus turning it into the tongue-in-cheek, hilarious creature feature we all anticipated.
