Sorry but I am no "techie".

Do you have a trem system? Floating or fixed (I think that is correct). If so does it have a locking system? Could be you may need to add another spring. Possible that the tension is too much.

I say this becuase the 2nd guitar I owned was a yamaha RGX? series back in late 80's. It had a floating trem with locks ( I was a shredder and Satch freak (that was when he only had Not of this earth and Surfin out). I had proghressed past nines and moved to 10's and I had the same problem. The trem only had 2 strings so I added another 2 and that fixed the problem. May help may not.
