You have to take into consideration that it is a "floating" bridge. There has to be an equal balance to keep your guitar in tune. If you detune one string you'll give the springs more pull and all your other stings will be pulled sharp. It seems tricky to work on at first but you'll get used to it. As far as your question, getting around it, I never thought there was... but recently I've seen a new tool that you add on to your springs that is supposed to keep them in tune even after adjusting. Whether or not it works I couldn't tell you. Check out http://www.stewmac.com.
