I have found it's not how long you practice, it's what you practice. 1st 10 mins should be warmups and stretching excersizes. Followed by a well diciplined practice routine. Try and focus on learning concepts instead of simply learning songs etc.

Don't play much past where your fingers start to hurt. Taking lessons can and does prevent bad habits which are tough to break once ingrained.
