Have a look at >Warmoth<. You can get everything you need, precut, from them. It might be a good idea to start with a "kit" guitar like these that you can customize to your own taste, rather than risk ruining some expensive wood by cutting it wrong.

Check out the Tech section. There's a guy in there named Robsm who has been working on several guitar projects, and has posted his progress. You might be able to find some very useful information in his pages.

One more thing... If you're wanting to stick to a Strat type tone, I would suggest going with either Ash or Alder for the body wood, instead of Mahogany. It will make a difference.
