you have to take driver's ed and then a written test to get a permit, you must have a permit for 6 months at least, during the time you have to take 3 driver's training lessons, each lasting 2 hours, and you have to drive for 50 hours with a licensed driver 25 or over in the passenger seat at all times and 10 of the hours have to be at night, then when you are 16 or older you can go take your driving test, if you pass you get a license, but it's a probationary license. you cannot drive with anyone under the age of 20 in your car unless you have a licensed driver of 25 or older in the passenger seat for the first 12 months! (this is the new law of 2006, it used to be 6 months, and I should be able to drive people now... but nooooo) and you can't drive between the hours of 11 pm and 5 am for the first 12 months either. so even though you have a license, you still can't go pick up your friends and drive them to a movie, you still can't pick up your friday night date, it's kinda (extremely) stupid really.

still think california doesn't have gay laws? and that's just about getting a license. we've got millions of stupid laws here.
