Why do Rap artist grab their crotch

Rap itself isnt bad, just todays rappers. Real rapping is hard, its a skill. Doing a 30 second rap is just as hard as doing a 30 second improvisation on guitar.

Yea the problem is that SOME *cough* people.. just watch mtv or bet or something and think all rap is the same. If i would have just watched mtv or whatever and thought that all rock was the same, i wouldn't even be part of this forum.

the crap they put on radios and tv is what people want to see and hear. teens run the music industry. teens are the industry's biggest customers. teens like sex and drugs and being all tough and gangsta so that's what they're gonna show and play on the radio and mtv because that's what sells.

sex and drugs and being all gangsta isn't only in rap, its in country, its in rock, classic and modern, i can name a few bands off the top of my head- guns n roses, queen, motley crue, alot of the modern bands... its displayed in pop lyrics and videos, its in reggae, R&B, its in everything. its just displayed more often in rap.

and i think this thread has gone totally downhill and completely off topic. the thread wasn't "do you like rap?" it was "Why do Rap artist grab their crotch". and I hate the fact that there can't be one thread about rap that doesn't have to be over 50% negative. If i made negative posts in every thread about rock music i'm sure i'd be banned by now.

If I recall correctly, you're the one who turned it into a rap discussion over the original topic. You also have it backwards... teens mimic what they see on the TV, not the other way around.
