its alot about the guitar itself, and how easy it is to tap loudly on it. (low action, etc)

its also about your hands and the clarity and strength with which you pull off/hammer on notes.

and its also the pickup in the guitar. some acoustic pups are specially made for percussive/tapping playing.

try plugging in the guitar and using a mic. that will pick up your tapped sounds nicely.
