Check out all country up to the 60's. Same deal. I don't think you can say a song is a rip off because it shares a chord progression. There's only so many chords.

Another favourite song thread - *sigh*.

"Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd. I want that song played at my funeral, and the chorus engraved on my headstone. Seriously.
"It's all folk music... I ain't never heard no horse sing!"
- Attributed variously to Leadbelly and Louis Armstrong

If at first you don't succeed, you are obviously not Chuck Norris.

Threads like this are stupid... but for the sake of the argument... the Darkside of the Moon album by Pink Floyd... DUH.... but Bohemian Rhapsody is incredible... I could list a few Zeppelin songs... some Hendrix... like his live rendition of the Star Spangled Banner!!! or his entire live performance at Woodstock... or Monterey Pop... two of the most coveted performances in rock history... the live version of Hotel California is pretty good... I think you have to considered the difference between live performances and studio recordings... you can't get the feel or ambience of a live recording in a cut and past studio recording... to each his own...
