the thing with tube amps is that when you turn the volume knob down, THE VOLUME ACTUALLY GOES DOWN!!! unlike solid states where it pretty much has no volume until "2" on the knob, and then it has 95% of it's volume at "3". so pretty much any tube amp can be turned down quiet enough for bedroom practice. just get a 1x12" combo to be as quiet as possible. it is true that tube amps are better when cranked, but doesn't mean that they sound like crap when the volume is low.
