Oh - my dad actually is a construction worker! :o
Well actually, he's a builder who runs his own business, and I make money by loading his truck and carrying heavy stuff and greasing his excavator and stuff... well, I make money when he remembers to pay me, anyway...

Do you play any sports? I can guarantee that a season of serious wrestling will rid you of any and all excess body fat.

A large part of eating healthily is developing a taste for good foods. What most people don't realize is that preferences in tastes are dynamic. It's possible to change what foods you do and don't like. Learning to love vegetables and grains instead of ice cream and cookies makes life much easier.

no I don't play any sports. but no, I will not even consider wrestling! a bunch of guys in tights rolling around on the ground trying to get on top of one another... eww.

I've never been the sport playin kinda guy. I played soccer for two years and hated it. that's when I switched to skateboarding and figured I enjoy it so much more. I gave up skateboarding when I picked up guitar though.

I admit wrestling sounds worse than pretty much any other competative activity, but there's nothing gay about it. I don't believe that a more competative sport exists. The 'tights' are called singlets and one of the main reasons they're worn is because loose clothing (t-shirts, basketball shorts, etc) creates a huge risk of finger breakage. They're also surprisingly confortable.

don't be shocked now... but I only got 8% fat ;) I'm 183 cm tall and my weight is around 65 kg, but it's been a while since I've checked, I'm guessing my weight has dropped significant due to some personal issues

nevertheless, I don't feel weak, my physical health is quite good if i may say so, I snack a lot, more like insane, so I really don't understand how that thing with calories work :P it just doesn't do the trick for me, I just won't gain any weight, nor can I eat a lot, I never finish a 1-person meal, just too much, and it's no fun t.b.h. wish someone had an answer for me as well

1.83 cm? I assume that's a typo.

I'm pretty sure we've had a height/weight thread before, but anyway, I'll chip in. I'm 5'7" (yes, I've grown since last time) and I weigh 65kg (yes, I've put on weight as well).

6strngs, I'm not the sports type either - man, I've been unco for as long as I can remember :o - but I do fencing, which is a pretty high-intensity sport. For me, the appeal is in the tactical co-ordination of mind and body - it's like physical chess. Plus, you get good exercise. Maybe you could look into something like that if you're looking for a sport that appeals to your interests.

Watch the sugars and the carbs. Don't cut them out completely though because then it becomes something you'll think about ALL THE TIME. Everything in moderation (with certain exceptions of course).

Hit the road three-four times a week. A three to four mile run a few times a week will do a lot for you. Quickly. Weight training is BIG too. Tell you one of the things I do is that for that rare hour or so when I'm just sitting in front of the TV (or the FAT BOX as I call it), do push-ups when the commericals come on. Do sit ups the next time the commercials pop up. The switch it to curls or dip (between chairs) or anything physical. Do them intensely for those three minutes and then rest. Use your imagination and you come up with a complete workout in the same space when you did nothing.

As far as appetite, pound a bottle of water before you eat a meal. Fills up your stomach and you won't be as tempted to eat just to eat.

You should always feel a little bit hungry when you step away from the table. If you're completely full, you've eaten too much.

Good luck.

And all this is brought to you by a guy who has lost twenty pounds or so doing the above. And I'm in my mid-40's. I don't have your metabolism anymore so I have to work twice as hard at it as you will.

Just make yourself some good habits and consider it a lifestyle change and you'll be fine.

basically, here's the chart like in my health book. called a BMI, which is Body Mass Index. so, if it's in the white zone, then you're underweight, the red zone is healthy, the gray zone is slightly overweight, and the blue is obese.
