From what I've read and heard from other people, a cheap first guitar is a rite of passage. I don't think that I've read anything about the great guitarists that didn't seem to start out with "My first guitar was a $5 special from Sears and Roebucks ... and I spent hours and hours with it....blah, blah, blah..."

It's all just part of the journey.
