nylon and steel strings feel and sound completely different. i'd say nylon is easier to play, but they have virtually no volume and probably wont help you as much if say you switch to electric and have to adjust to these metal strings.

i'd just say go with the steel strings, cuz that way you can play and others will hear, and it will help you improve more in my opinion. also, with nylon strings you cant really play chords. who wants that? lol.
