I believe you do not need a card to record on the GNX3, but you can expand your storage with the card. I own a GNX4 and I'm not real familiar with your model. I know that you must be in record mode to record on the GNX4. Maybe this is your problem. You may be in stompbox mode or preset mode. Hope this helps.
