Unfortunately, there's a negative side to that.
I went to the defense of a guy in my apartment building once who was being bullied and pushed around by a gang member. I didn't realize the other guy I beat up was one of the gang members.
Next day, his whole gang was sitting in front of the school waiting for me.
Half way through the day, the leader of the gang was sitting outside the school waiting for me as I was walking out to the portable and he threatened me saying 'I'm gonna get you".
Anyways, being in my early teens I was scared crapless cause I knew he had a gang of about 20 guys.
Next day though, my mom went to the guys high school and talked to the principle. He never bothered me again, so I can only assume he got an ultimatim to stay in school or else. (it sucks to have your mother fight your battles for you, but in this case I was glad of it.)
Like I said, I friggin hate bullies and gang members who think they're s**** hot and immune from the law because of the young offenders act.
The young offenders act (in Canada) should be repealed and these guys should be treated as adults. There should also be a minimum sentence for possetion of firearms or knives.
Keep em in jail for 10 to 20 years for assault by restricted weapons.
Life, with no chance of parole for armed robbery and the death penalty for murder.
