Well, its safe to say that both Pink Floyd and The Doors both had something different to offer the table.

Its obvious why both of these bands reached such high levels of success and that was because of musical proficiency. When it comes to these bands, each member is irreplacable, and thats what makes a great and memorable band. But With The Doors it seemed as if they were lacking in the creativity department toward the end, don't get me wrong, these guys released one good solid record after another, but still nothing can top their first record. But with Floyd, these guys released one interesting record after another, these guys really had us by our throats, begging for more. Although its very hard to top the unique structure in Jimmy Morrisons lyrics, Ide have to say that Pink Floyd wins this battle. Their music is just so pure, and its the type of stuff that carries on for generations. These guys didn't care about image, for them music was their primary force.

I think what Joseph was trying to say was who gives a **** anyway, nobody's ever going to agree on any of this stuff, how about Britney and me nude mud wrestling. That would be a fascinating contest. I'm sure I could make it last 15 rounds, oh alright 25.
It takes 3 chords, 2 fingers and one asshole to play rock'n'roll

I think AC/DC are an embarassment to the 70's-80's hard rock scene. Angus's legs move more than his fingers do.

Led Zeppelin all the way.

When you it comes to hard working musicians, it doesn't get any better than Metallica, these guys are unbelievable, they have overcome so many different obstacles in the past, but still they've managed to carry on and continue making the type of music that best satisfies their impulses. Despite the whole napster saga, you guys can't deny that for a long car ride Metallica is #1 on your list (or at least pretty close), their songs are awesome, and Kirk Hammett continues to impress me as the years progress. [/i]

As for Guns N Roses, without Slash, this band lacks the creativity and the much needed fluidity that makes this band worthwhile.

Metallica all the way!!!!

Guns N' Roses definately. They've done so much to revive hard rock from those "glam" bands.
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

As much as Deep Purple rock I have to go with The Who just because they were one of few bands to save rock and roll from that rut in the earily-mid sixties.

The Who.

Deep Purple
to compare blackmore and townshend is like comparing me and jimmy page..
you people dont know what you are talking about... deep purple (in the early 70's) were much more than the smoke on the water band... they made a long way from their progressive beginning till their heavier and funkier albums like burn and they were good at it all.
"They think im crazy..
but i know better.
It is not I who am crazy.
It is I who am mad.."
