I'll be brutally honest. The vocalist sounds too young and the melody is too amateurish. Way too reverb. In short..... the vocals are real corny.

The music is really good though.

I'd drop the vocals completely, rewrite them, and get somebody else to do them. Even better, if the visuals of the movie can carry it, leave the vocals out altogether.

The lead solo in the right channel in the middle of the song kinda dies... and then the music after it doesn't build to finish it off.

Just my opinion, but I'd remix it and redo the vocals. It's hard to say for sure how it'd fit without seeing a visual of the movie though, so ya never know... it might fit depending on the subject.

Quality wise, it's probably cause it was converted to 128kbps or less so it's kinda lacking in dynamics. If you're presenting it to a client, I'd code it at
320kbps at the least and preferably offer the choice of sending a .wav or .aiff file so the person listening to it gets the full potential.

Cheers mate, these are excellent comments. The track worked even better than I thought :D This is a bunch of 16 year olds brought up on AC/DC and Led Zep. They never really understood the Steve Vai / van Halen school of rock. It's supposed to be young and corny and to be honest it's bloody difficult to write. They wanted it to be their Stairway - quiet acoustic then big guitars at the end.

Subject first - what was I thinking about at 16? Hmmmmm... sex, sex and probably more sex and harbouring deep fantasies about taking revenge on the girl that dumped me before I'd got to the sex bit ;)

Language - not too sophisticated (working class lads)

Music - just a bunch of lads trying to enjoy themselves, they're never going to be great musicians and they're informed by a diet of AC/DC and Led Zep. Corny is what they're going to write.

So - vocals too young and corny ? Brilliant - that's how they are supposed to be (also secretly pleased that I still sound young  )

I take your point about the sound quality but it's not important at the moment. It's an idea not a finished article. The real music would be hopefully be played by a bunch of 16 year olds (who will probably all be outstanding and streets ahead of me - grrrrr!)

Point taken about the solos but as I said in my previous post this really is just a rough mix with improvised solos. The final one will have much of it chopped out and be a bit more structured - put my sensible head on.

Really appreciate the comments, good stuff.

Cheers
