I don't know if this will help you but it helped me. When you tune your guitar do each string in the following order. 6,1,5,2,4,3. So do the 6th then the 1st to counter balance the 6th and so on.

Hehe, don't blame you mate, but thanks for all the help. I had a go earlier and to be honest it didn't sound too bad so aslong as it lasts for the wedding I'll be happy.
