Nah...don't be intimidated. It just has the 4 freq sweeps that change the tone a lil. And of those, you'll prolly find a liking to 2 of them more than the others. I generally only ever use the brightest tone, but it's cool to have the variety and option to switch. Just think if you were stuck with the pedal that represented the freq. range you didn't care for as much.
It's built like a tank too though. I've had mine for oh, say, 8-9 years and still going strong.
