the best songs are at least four minutes long, led zeppelin's new greatest hits has only about three songs under that mark. there is so much more to do with the time. gnr has great epics and hendrix's machine and the door's light my fire are very long, but are considered the best

Joseph is right, there is so much more emotion in these epic songs. today however, in this world of pop, rap, and over commericialization, these songs are almost non-existent
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.
