Unfortunately I've heard that you should never have your strings at normal tension when shipping an axe, since the tension on the neck is more likely to cause a break/crack there when dropped, even while in a case. Besides, even yer best job of tuning beforehand would be futile upon arrival, as the countless variables (changes in temperature, altitude, pressure, etc.) will have thrown it outta wack.
