emo on the other hand, you'll probably find wearing tighter clothing (some) they will wear bright colors in an attempt to be different by dressing like everyone else that's trying to be different. also, their musical tastes are different (and WAAAAAAAYYYY more annoying) and they bitch about how everything is just going wrong in their lives, and that no one else feels how they do...

gotta understand, its the followers, not all teh bands themselves, that suck dick. given, ive played shows with "emo" bands and ive never met one person in them that i could honestly have a conversation with without wanting to re-evaluate the intelligence of human beings, but i woudlnt go outright to say that the bands that these kids are into are fags also. for instance, i am quite fond of a few nu metal bands like slipknot and korn. i like how they advanced the genre, i like how they stepped it up, and i respect them as musicians. i am a very open minded person i think, because i know that just becasue slipknot doesnt play blistering solos (actually their new album ahs a track called "pulse of the maggots" and the guitarist does an incredibly raunchy, blazing guitar solo") but that doesnt mean they couldnt if they wanted to. i used to think bands like korn just sucked dick, and thats why they played gross, drop C chords, but theyre just exploring art. now, i could never go up to a bunch of kids who wear slipknot shirts and bondage pants and be like "slipknot rules" becasuse far too many people are close minded, and giving the impression that i like nu metal would basically pigeon-hole me as a total ****ing moron. so when people ask me what my fav bands are, i usually have to give them a wide range of bands starting with classic rock, like the eagles and acdc, and ending with indie stuff like jack johnson and acoustic emo stuff like dashboard confessional. ive even come to respect stuff that i wouldnt exactly enjoy listening to, but i know that the bands have talent, and therefore as a musician i shouldnt bash them for not playing free bird or some gay **** like that.
