Years ago I got burned out on guitar playing after many years of playing in bands and giving lessons. I decided to "take a break" which stretched into years. I still have my guitar rig but didnt have an accoustic again until recently and now I'm going to get back into fingerpicking style. So what I am wondering and would like an opinion on is this... Should I use a Thumbpick and fingerpicks? Just a Thumbpick? Thumbpick and fingerpicks on index, middle and third finger? In the past I used none and became proficient like that but it always nagged at me that maybe I should just bite the bullet and use fingerpicks even though it felt wildly unnatural. I know that that would change with practice but still. It would be like starting over but would maybe be worth the advantages (volume, tone control, etc.). Any opinions? Thanks!
