Greetings, I'm creeping on a bit too.
I play and record on computer at home, I use a Fender Squier and a Les Paul studio.
I use Guitar Tracks recording software and have just found I can record the distortion channel without hum, by simply moving the amp further from the computer - I find the squier records well, but the les paul is too powerfull, it could be OK, if I had a bigger room.
