Not to sound like as ass but that doesn't really hold water - a lot of shredders go for necks that are as thin paper (Jems, Jacksons, and EBMM's), others go for jumbo thick necks ('50s Vintage Les Pauls and Fenders). It just depends on the make up of your hand, personal preference and how potent the marketing behind the particula brand is (Ibanez for example - Vai and Satch are pretty powerful campaigners for a brand).
