first if u have the orginal broken strings, dont throw them away.
go to your local music store with your babe and her broken strings... (its better to go store with qualified guys)
they can give you some advice, about the gauge and brands...

also theres no "right stuff" for every guitar and owners. so take some advices from guys in store. and take your shot. even u get worst strings, its just an xperience. sooner or later u learn whats your taste in string choice... ;)
