I do find Satriani to be a very boring player, and most of his compositions are nonsense shredding to me. But i wouldn't say the same about Vai or Petrucci (huge Dream Theater fan over here). while I DO embrace complexity, it's essential that it works musically. Steve Vai and John Petrucci usually are both very mature when working with other musicians. I don't think they should be seen the same way as Satch.
