It has a lot of gain.....and of course the hotter the pups in the guitar, the more it will overdrive.

It gets plenty of gain at lower volumes, but you do have to crank it up to at least 7 to get the full sound of it. The mids and lows really start kicking in at around 7 on the volume. I usually keep the gain at around 8 and the volume at around 7 or 8 with my EVH plugged into it.....

Follow this link and listen to Diseased. That's the only song that our other guitarist didn't play on, solely me, my EVH and the 800. It'll give you an idea of the tone.....
