Besides the original minor penatonic scale which you know (and almost every guitar player), the penatonic scales, in my view, are for discovering the notes of each different cord and they are also used varyingly in solos in riffs. There are 5 minor penatonic scales used in solos and riffs, learn the other 4 and you should be on your way to soloing.
