So a friend of mine bought the crossroads guitar festival DVD and I finally watched it. Blew me away! That guy with the steel guitar Robert....damn can't remember his name...Robert something (no, not Robert Cray and certainly not Robert Johnson...I think it started with an "R") was amazing. Vai played "I'm the Hell out of Here" which is such a show-offy song. Perfect for a guitar festival. Eric Johnson was rippin' it up. Of course Buddy Guy is ridiculous. I never knew Joe Walsh was such a hilarious guy either. Those yellow shoes were priceless.
Only problem was BB King played about two notes the whole time he was there. I mean, yeah, the guy's over-rated, but he's not bad by any means. Oh yeah, and I'd been surprised by this before, so it wasn't as shocking as it might have been, but John Mayer can really play! Something interesting my friend, Pretlow, told me was that Mayer is ditching the pop genre and forming a blues trio. How wicked is that gonna be!?
