My problem was that until I really began to play the guitar I never realized how much and for how long I missed out on the music and character of both Jimmi Hendrix and SRV till it was too late. ( not too late to hear and appreciate the music, but to see them in the flesh)
My all time hero is Angus Young and as noted above by Zepplin Bonn Scott was fantastic and will always be missed by all.

While I'm sat here, Playin', I'm tryin' to free my mind!

Definitely Nirvana.
I had the ticket in my hands and were going to see them in stockholm. It felt very unreal. I couldn't really beleive it, so the grim reality took care of that and Kurt shot himself. Can't think of any worse day than that in my whole life so far. It still hurts.
Even though Kurt was the anti-guitarhero number one, he made his songs sound more than just the "four chords".
Gaaahaaaa..snyft..

The biggest tragedy in rock history without a doubt was Buddy Holly's death. He was a great singer, songwriter, guitarist, and he wasn't a stupid phony like Elvis (with all due respect). buddy is definately what kept rock and roll alive.

Nobody said CLIFF BURTON! That was the real metallica. And all the other guys I won't bother listing cause you dudes already repeated them about a thousand times.

Guess again.

You can add Jaco Pastoruis to my list. I just got his first album and it's amazing. Very few people can be attributed so much credit for redefining their instrument across entire genres. When Pat Methaney calls you "the most influential jazz musician ever," you've accomplished something.
