Well, start learning the chords and getting your fingers strong. Then look around on this site, there are thousands of finger excersizes and playing tips for beginners...try some of them out.

I would learn the major scale if I were you, then start working with power chords, playing the root note and the fifth(fifth note in the major scale) at the same time, start using this as a movable shape(it will be the same shape for any chord) and moving it around...

It is hard to start playing, but once you get through it, it is really amazing to play the instrument...good luck...check out some stuff on the tricks section on this page and get going....ENJOY IT!
