Yea, thats would be a good start...I say check out the tips on this web page, also, buy a chord dictionary and start learning various chord shapes and start practicing...the hardest part of learning is getting your fingers to press down hard enough and change position fast enough.
Also buy yourself a metronome in a while and practise changing chords in time(you can do this in a few weeks once you can play the chords without any buzzing or funny sounds...)
