I would recommend just playing as opposed to buying special equipment. Speed comes with practice, muscle memory, and accuracy. Simply put, you get faster buy playing the guitar.

As for the pinky, I too had a long struggle getting that little dude in the game. For the first 2-3 years I played, I only used it for that odd note here and there. I'd recommend doing scale exercises with all 4 fingers. For instance, try playing a major scale formation in thirds up and down the fretboard to build speed and accuracy. Also try doing trills (successive hammer on, pull off's) between your ring finger and pinky.
