I'm new here, and this place looks pretty awesome. But anywayserz, heres what I need help with, I didn't know where to place this but I thought this would be the best spot. I've been playing both electric and acoustic guitar for about 2-3 years now, and have just taken up the ukulele. My big problem is, I can play just about any song if you give me the tab for it, and I can create some stuff on my own. Its just that I don't really know any music theory. I don't know notes, I don't know scales, and I don't know keys or any of that jazz. I would like to figure out modes and scales and stuff that way I can actually do a real solo, instead of just playing random notes that sound good together. I want to be able to create songs that have a backbone to them, like in a certain key and stuff...I was just wondering if anyone could offer me advice in learning that kind of stuff, should I take lessons, what should I do, I'm pretty much in a rutt right now. I'm getting bored of playing old stuff, when I know there is so much to guitar and I just need to know where to get the information and learn it. If anyone could again, offer me any advice I would greatly appreciate it.
