I buy Standards from the States for around $1100 if I can get em that cheap, thats around £750 by the time you add duty and shipping.
Then I sell em for hopefully £900

Used 80s and 90s Customs I can get for around $1600 if Im lucky, thats around £900/1000. Then sell em for around £1200.

Reissues I can get for around $2000, thats around £1200/1300. Then Sell em for around £1500.

Class 5s / Elegants / Other custom shop stuff $2200, thats around £1400/1500. Then sell em for around £1600/1700.

Overall its extremely hard to make money. One day on the UK ebay a standard can go for £950, the next, £825. Or a 57 RI Goldtop I can sell for £1500, then the next day people aint interested in it at £1100.

I usually only make around £100 per guitar. Sometimes I hit the big time. every 3rd or 4th guitar I might make £300 on, every 7th or 8th I might hit £500 profit.

Heres a recent success, its on ebay right now, I paid £1250 for it.

Gibson Les Paul 54 RI

Last summer I made £750 each on two guitars. I was the first guy to get the limited edition Manhattan midnight Standards in the UK and thats how much I made.

Ebay is full of *^&$%£ though.

If that was a good deal it wouldnt still be on ebay. Id have it by now. Any buy it now thats older than a couple of hours has already been seen, and rejected, like people like me. The best deals are never seen on ebay because guys like me get them within minutes of them being listed.

Chuck you live in the states so its impossible for you to do what I do.

The only reason I make money is because people dont want to buy from the states. So I import them first then sell em.
